In 16th century, a fort was built by a trusted general of Akbar, Maan Singh. Later, Maan started to rule the area surrounding the fort which was called as the Amer state. The fort is now called as the Amer fort and the city is called as Jaipur. Amer fort or Amber fort is located a little away from the main city of Jaipur. It is the most important tourist destination in this city.

My favorite! The palace of Winds. Located in the heart of city and one of the famous and important tourist attraction since ages. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of the Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty, this beautiful structure is predominantly a high screen wall made of pink and red sandstone that facilitated royal women to get an eyeful of the street festivals and city life while remaining out of the view of public. This five-storey building in the shape of a crown of Lord Krishna with 953 jharokhas or windows and a beautifully decorated facade resembling a honeycomb of a beehive that gives one a feel of the rich heritage of the Rajputs.

# 4 Birla Temple

The Laxmi Narayan temple or the Birla temple is very famous among those who love architecture and among pilgrims. The temple is famous for its grand architecture and serene beauty. The temple gets its name from the Birla Family who commissioned building several modern temples around the world along with this temple.

# 5 Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal is the beautiful Palace built in the middle of the Man Sagar lake. The palace consists of five floors, out of which four remains underwater. It was built by Maharaja Madhao Singh I and was nurtured by many generations. Don’t miss out the Street food on your way back from the Mahal.

Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observatory used to measure the distances and positions of celestial objects. India has a total of five such observatories the largest of which is in Jaipur.The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur consists of 19 large instruments each serving a very specific purpose. The most significant among these is the Samrat Yantra which is the largest sundial in the country.The light and sound show at the Jantar Mantar is definitely worth your time. # 8 Jaigarh Fort
