Nothing sounds great than the music of festivals, tastes better than the prasad of puja and looks beautiful than happy faces all around.

Celebrations and festivals are the major part of the Indian Culture. Among the many religious and social customs that mark the diverse festive calendar of Indians is Ganesha Chaturthi celebration which is about the birth of the Elephant-headed god, Ganesha. Lord Ganesha is considered to be the lord of wisdom, good fortune and prosperity.

It’s a total different environment all around for ten days. Colorful, vibrant, streets full of Ganesha Idols,flowers, rangoli,decoration stuffs,modak and all the happy faces.Clay idols of Ganesha are made months in advance and thousands of devotees take them home to worship with the most dhum dhadaka, dhol baja. 

Being a North Indian, I never knew in detail, about this grand festival and this wonderful celebration, until I shifted to Maharashtra years back and it was only after my marriage , I too started bringing home Ganesha every year. You know what is the best part of this whole celebration time.. the ENERGY around us changes, the aura and the atmosphere are so pleasant that we get a different purpose,our daily routine changes, we become more happy and vibrant with a new member in our house, even if he is there for just few days. We deck up, perform arti, prepare sweets, decorate our house with flowers and rangoli. It is just the beginning of the festival season around followed by Navratri, Dusshera, Diwali.. all back to back. So much to look forward to 🙂
