Ten things to learn from Bhagavad Gita- Do not miss no.7

Bhagavad Gita is considered to be a rich source of inspiration for many since ages. Even in our daily life, we use the logic and learning from the Bhagavad Gita. It is indeed a vast sea of knowledge and a practical guide to daily life. In Mahabharata, Lord Krishna became Arjuna’s Sarathi (CHARIOTEER) and Arjuna could derive immense knowledge and insight from Krishna’s philosophical abstraction. We too can learn few things from the Bhagavad Gita and adapt in our daily lives.

#1.That which changes with time cannot be considered eternal and is not the ultimate reality, because the ultimate reality is neither temporary nor does it change with time and is indestructible.

#2. Birth and death are unavoidable matters. Do not lament over them because those who are born will certainly die one day and those who die will be born again one day.

#3.Act according to your stature without any hope of enjoying the fruits of your actions.Any action driven by the desire to enjoy its benefits is inferior to intelligence that adheres to a discipline.

#4.One who is content in the self and derives happiness from self alone is said to be freed of all the duties.

#5.With wisdom and knowledge comes supreme peace.

#6.With constant self-discipline, the yogi is able to control his mind and attain the supreme form of peace which is beyond all material existence.  A yogi whose mind is controlled and focused in yoga is like a flickering lamp in a windless place.

#7.What did you lose that you cry about? What did you bring with you, which you think you have lost? What did you produce, which you think got destroyed? You did not bring anything – whatever you have, you received from here. Whatever you have given, you have given only here. Whatever you took, you took from God. Whatever you gave, you gave to him. You came empty-handed, you will leave empty handed. What is yours today, belonged to someone else yesterday, and will belong to someone else the day after tomorrow. You are mistakenly enjoying the thought that this is yours. It is this false happiness that is the cause of your sorrows.

#8.Whatever happened, happened for the good; whatever is happening, is happening for the good; whatever will happen, will also happen for the good only. You need not have any regrets for the past. You need not worry for the future. The present is happening.

#9.This body is not yours, neither are you of the body. The body is made of fire, water, air, earth and ether, and will disappear into these elements. But the soul is permanent – so who are you?

#10.Why do you worry without cause? Whom do you fear without reason? Who can kill you? The soul is neither born, nor does it die.

The Bhagavad Gita has influenced many great thinkers over the years.

Mahatma Gandhi“When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to Bhagavad-gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day.”

  1. I am loving the series Priyanka and the teachings of Bhagavad Gita transcends times with pearl of wisdom existing since times memorial with new age authors or people from the West repackaging it. We should be proud of our rich Indian culture.
