Blogging Myths Demystified

Blogging Myths Demystified

Recently blogging had become a craze or a fashion amongst individuals.  Many feel it is a cake walk and easy way to earn money, but before one take up blogging as a full-time career it is extremely important to know certain myths attached to blogging.

First thing first, Blogging is not as easy as it appears to be, many feel you must write something, and you get paid. Blogging is not at all easy and lets me tell you not everyone who writes can become a good blogger, why? A lot of investment in terms of time, patience and little money is needed when one is serious about making a career in the blogging world.

One needs to read, connect with others and write regularly in order to enhance their writing skills. It is a continuous learning process and over the period once you gain momentum you gain an audience for yourself; you identify your niche area and then comes the time when you can make a sustainable mark in the blogging world with your consistency and rich content.

Secondly although when you are just a beginner you can start with a random topic for your blog, some poetries, some stories or general information but since you start getting view and visitors to your blog and if you seriously want them to return to your blog you need to be consistent with your content and it will only happen when you will adopt a niche or a theme for your blog, you can always divide your blog in two-three niche and categorize them.

Blogging Myths Demystified

A quick tip: You are the host of your blog and the readers or visitors are the guest, treat them right and you will be appreciated for your courtesy and content you offer to them.

How to decide?

Now if you are confused whether you want to go for a paid blog or a free one? A self-hosted one or a free account?

So, let me tell you it depends upon your vision as a blogger, ask these simple questions to yourself first:

*Do you really want to become a blogger or just want to follow because you think it is trending stuff?

*Is it just a means to pass leisure time or is it your hobby?

* Are you ready to dedicate at least one hour daily to your blog, to understand the blogging world?

*Will you be able to hold patience in your initial days when you will hardly get any views or visitors?

If the answers are in YES, then congratulations you are having the right mindset before starting your own blog.

For beginners I would suggest to go for a free blog account at WordPress.com or Blogger and start experimenting with your content and once you get a hold of it you can anytime buy a domain and server space to monetize your blog, secondly if you are already with the content and something to offer to the wider audience and want to make a living through your ideas putting in your blog then you can head straight to open a self-hosted blog at wordpress.org or any other service providers like GoDaddy.

Remember content is the king, no matter how much money you invest in making your blog look beautiful or appealing but if your content doesn’t appeal to the readers you will start losing out the race.

Below mentioned brownie points could be taken into consideration:

*Try to learn basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

*Write lengthier posts, Google loves long content (more than 1000 words)

*Blogging is not about you; it is about your target audience.

*Identify a niche and develop it.

* You can also create vlogs, podcasts, picture blogs depending upon your area of expertise.

* Promote your blog on various Social Media Platforms.

*Blogging can help you earn money, but it needs a lot of hard work, just like one needs to build a business.

At last, I would say that blogging although requires tremendous hard work and patience trust me the rewards in form of comments, recognition and connecting with the various bloggers from the corners of the worlds is no less than a sense of accomplishment. Blogging opens different avenues for the ones who take it seriously, apart from earning money through monetizing your blog, you can turn yourself as Author from Blogger in no time with your consistent and quality content and once you make your way through blogging there is no looking back and you will enjoy your journey as a blogger.

Happy Blogging!

Much love and gratitude

  2. Enriching advice to anyone starting blogging and didn’t know about Google loving long posts! One thing I’d say and which you wrote in the post, content matters and building an audience, not money or paid featured posts. Keep writing!

      • I wouldn’t call SEO organic. Essentially, you are tricking search engines into believing your content is relevant and valuable to the user. SEO is actually part of SEM. SEM would take this a step further by also deceiving the user.
It is difficult, some would say impossible, to reach an audience without using SEO. This is the overarching problem.

      • Yes I get your point 🙂 and even I am learning what works best for my blog. But yes I find SEO better than SEM.
Hence I have created a separate blog with right niche, researched content and trying to apply all the SEO skills I have learned, lets see where it takes me 🙂
