From Stressed to Sorted – Book Review

From Stressed to Sorted: 11 Ultimate Life-changing Happiness Hacks for Millennials; Book Review. I hardly give book reviews because I can never be critical but when it comes to books related to Mental Health, I do try to spread the word. You never know who might get benefited by reading just a few pages of a helpful book.

So today I am sharing a short review of a book, I recently read and I simply loved reading it. The book, “From Stressed To Sorted” is a self-help book in a very subtle and simple language, anyone can read and relate to the anecdotes mentioned in the book.

From Stressed to Sorted: About the Author

Before I head on to the book review, I would first congratulate the author for coming up with such a helpful book for the readers and making a fair attempt to be a guiding light through her simple words of wisdom.

The book is written by Sonam Chamaria and edited by Neha Chamaria. The author of the book, Sonam Chamaria is an Investment banker by profession, and a Tarot-card reader, chakra healer, avid reader, writer, blogger, traveler, and photographer by choice.

She started her blog, Soul Speak with Sonam in 2016, and is a highly spiritual person who believes that everything happens for a reason, which you will reaslise as you will read the book page by page 🙂

This book is her first published work and she dedicates this book to her mother with love and warmth in each word.

Book Review:

The book starts with a very warm note, which already connects you to the author and you prepare yourself to join her in her whole journey of 134 pages without any questions and assumptions.

This book, From Stressed to Sorted is quite a sorted book, and not an atypical type of preachy and heavily jargoned book, anyone can read it and relate to it. The book consists of 11 chapters with a unique takeaway, in the end, every chapter starts with an example which we all go through in our daily life, but how we choose to respond to our day to day situations is the “thing” or a constant truning point, author has emphasized on.

You instantly form a connection with the author as the language is so simple and convincing, you will feel that you are actually conversing with the writer as each page turns with the flow. I feel the author has very carefully picked up all her life’s incidents and personal experiences and has given it a beautiful shape of learning. At the end of every chapter, the Try Me’s are worth trying and doodles make you smile.

Written by a millennial, for the millennials, this book is a must-read for three reasons:

1.) You will feel like you are actually chatting with the author.

2.) Besides a little logical gyan, you get a takeaway after each and every lesson, which are worth trying.

3.) All the life hacks are beautifully explained with examples, as you read you come up questions and your questions are answered briefly with examples.

In the end, I would say this book is a mix of fiction, non-fiction, life’s learning and some amazing hacks, crafted with beautiful narattion.

Review:

I believe traveling changes a person a lot and when you have so many stories to share with the world it surely connects with everyone who reads it. The author has traveled several Indian destinations like Lucknow, Kedarnath, Amritsar, Rishikesh, Jaisalmer, Kodaikanal, to name few with a slice of Europe in her board.

You will find an interesting flavor of humor, dark, romance, adventure and affection as you turn the pages of the book which you will surely enjoy reading.

Apart from sharing the different places, beautifully captured pictures of the monuments and details of the tour and helpful tips the author has also shared few very handy and useful tips to be taken care while traveling especially when you are traveling with kids.

Her Chapter, “Scary and unforgettable childhood memories of Himachal Pradesh”, literally gave me goosebumps as she narrates two such horrifying incidents crazy enough to scare the hell out of a person especially when you are at an unknown place.

The breathtaking narration of Alleppey and Kodaikanal’s beauty and divine hues of Amritsar will make you feel like visiting the place and the author has tried to cover every minute details for each place.

“As soon as I got down from the plane, I remember I told my husband, “The air is so fresh here”, as it was a pleasant welcome “, says the author when she moved to Poland in 2016, an Eastern European country situated on the Baltic Sea, popular for its medieval architecture and Jewish heritage, sharing the beautiful culture and places to explore in Poland.

Prague was her very first vacation with her infant twins and that chapter remains very special even though she had to manage two kids. The author has covered many foreign destinations with two babies by her side and to explore more you got to read the book.

Why you should read this book?

From road trips to trekking to experiencing divinity to facing horrible and unexpected incidents and yet smiling brightly with her twin kids, the author has left a memorable travelogue with her experiences.

I often hear people say that it is difficult to travel with kids and have seen families to avoid any travel just because of the fear of facing tantrums by their kids while the journey. As you read this book you will find some very useful tips and inspiration to travel the world with a kid by your side and trust me it will be fun.
